Paris Video
Apr 28/08 - At the Ile de la Cite, the origin of Paris. The Sainte-Chapelle was a great architectural masterpiece in its time, likened to "a gateway to heaven". After standing in a very long queue to get through metal detector and x-ray, the upper chapel provided a very calming and beautiful vista. The chapel is surrounded by glorious stained glass panels 50 ft high up to the roof. It is not a wonder how this chapel is also known as "the jewel box".
At a little distance away is the famous Notre Dame Cathedral, well known for its rose windows, gargoyles and tale of a hunchback.
We crossed over to the Ile St Louis for the famous Berthillon ice cream. Had to try both outlets, very tiny scoops that left us craving for more.
In the video, we also went to Musee d'Orsay, La Defense and Eiffel Tower.
At the Orsay, we saw Monet, Matisse, Manet, Degas and Van Gogh, not the artists but their paintings.
